Beauty...Inspiration...

Lately, I have seen a lot of beauty around me by looking at magazines, etsy and other blogs. I am amazed by the things that people come up with. It's a good thing that I don't have a lot of extra spending change these days...if I did, it'd all be going to etsy shops. I love the creativity out there. The thing that gets me the most is when I see something that someone else created, I think - "hey, I thought of doing that before..." Then I wonder why I never followed through. I think the answer I came up with is that I was afraid that it wouldn't be good enough or that maybe it was outside of the "rules" of art. You know, like when I look at Donna Downey's work sometimes. Where is that fine line of art and "it looks like I through everything on a canvas and covered it with mod podge"? I love her work, I've even considered purchasing some of it (one day I will!), but I'm afraid that if I tried to put all that's into my head on paper - or canvas - it would not come out making sense.

I realized that while I was worrying about the rules and about wasting materials or what others would see it as, I wasn't CREATING. Well, guess what? I am not worried about that anymore. I want to create beautiful things. I'm not talking about tins and altered letters - although, that's fun too. I am talking about putting on a smock or an apron, getting out some paints or chalks or other medium and just go to town. Maybe play with some wire, cut out some flowers...I don't know. I just know that I have been inspired. I am going to FOCUS on that INSPIRATION.

Do any of you know what I am rambling about? *sigh*

Hey Sherry, I "get" it completely! Good for you checking things out. Another source is: http://www.goddessleonie.com/index.html

She's young - with all the pitfalls and arrogance that goes with it :) - but she's generous and thoughtful and thought provoking. Worth a visit or ten.

Have a wonderful Sunday! Hope you get a chance to make a mess or two.

I get it. And I'd love it if you gave it a try and posted pictures of whatever you create!
