Beauty in......Nessun Dorma

My first memory of hearing this song was when it was sung by Luciano Pavarotti. It took my breath away. It was one of those songs (and with Pavarotti singing it) that you just melt into. Nessun Dorma is from Puccini's opera Turandot. It is a story of a cold hearted princess. You can read more detail about it here. They say that two of the highest notes in the tenor range are sung in this incredible aria - B4 followed by A4.
Well, one day someone sent me this video clip. I clicked on it and sat back. As I watched, I felt myself coming forward in my chair and I was leaning in to my computer. My eyes closed automatically as I took in a deep breath and just listened. Well, of course it was just a clip and ended all too soon. I had to find more about this Paul Potts that so humbly sang one of the most beautiful pieces of opera I've ever known. I realized that it was not just the song and his voice that moved me in this video. It was the fact that here was an average guy, who you'd never think (by the looks of him), could make this sort of music come out of his mouth. You never know what a person has inside him. You only have to give him a chance. Anyway, I know most people have already seen this - but who doesn't love to watch it again and again? TURN MY MUSIC OFF FIRST (sidebar red box).

So what happened to him? Did he make it big?
He brought tears to my eyes. Truly moving. and you're right, it's because you could see how humble he is, and it's soooo sincere. That is a rare thing.
