I have always been curious about brussel sprouts. I think because I love miniature things and they look like miniature heads of cabbage. However, I have only admired them for their looks. I had never eaten them. Then the other day I read Lee's blog and she mentioned her slight dislike for brussel sprouts. I had to find out.
So, today I bought some. Not the fresh ones or the plain frozen ones...I wasn't that brave. I bought the Green Giant frozen box. It already had butter and cheese - so why not? I cooked them in the microwave (another thing I rarely use), I got a fork and dug in.
The verdict? They were o.k. That's it. The small ones were better than the large, they all had a little bit of bitterness. The thing that I did NOT like at all were that the larger ones seemed to expand as I chewed. I felt like I had a big mouth full of leaves. LOL. Anyway, pretty uneventful, but now I can say that I HAVE tried brussel sprouts. =]

I can no longer hang out with you. Those are just awful. But good for you for trying them. You were brave, I tell you!
I commend you on trying them. They have never crossed my lips because I'm too scared of them. :P
They are actually really nice when bought fresh, sliced and stir fried in with other vegies and hokkien noodles. A bit of honey soy sauce/marinade helps!
You are a braver woman than I. Brussel sprouts to me taste like the word verification that I have to type in to leave my comment: "cnizewdy". That's it. They are very cnizewdy.
UGH, Girlie you are way braver than me my friend! I honestly can't imagine putting something like that in my mouth voluntarily. NASTY!!! I'm going to just take your word for it & never try them for myself! EWWWW!!!
You are very brave. Crazy brave, chickie! Glad I inspired something ;)
Ew. Mr. Basket LOVES brussel sprouts. I'm with you, though. Too bitter. Blech.
(I think it's funny what you said about them looking like you'd like them, because I feel the same way! They're adorable, and they should taste adorable, but they taste like something that's sat outside in the garbage can for 3 days in 100 degree temperatures!)
Yuck! Yuck! Yuck!
I tried brussel sprouts one time when I was in college. Nasty. Never again.
