Today, I am thankful for...down time...

Here's Hannah with little Marco. He loves his sissy so much!

Our school held it's annual Wheel/Jog-a-thon today and all of my kids participated in it. Well, little Marco didn't actually do laps, but he was all over the place during the event and I was chasing after him, so that counts - right? =]
We were all so tired when we got home. We had a crazy-busy week (as usual) and I knew we'd be busy tomorrow because we had plans to go to Los Angeles with some friends and then to a birthday party afterward for one of our members.
Marco was already home when we got there and he mentioned that he might be headed out to a football game. After we talked about it - he realised that it was too late to head out that far.
We ended up eating dinner at home (left-overs) and then basically just "hung out". It was so awesome. I really did not do much of anything and for those of you that really know me - that was not easy! I just enjoyed laughing and talking with the kids and my hubby of course.
We don't get much down-time, but we know we need it. Today, I am thankful for much needed time just doing nothing. =]

Beauty....Naps...

(this sweet little photo was found on google...but I know how this baby feels!)
Yeah, you read that right! I know, I know. I don't like to take naps....but, Sunday? Sunday naps are different. There is nothing like taking a nap on a Sunday afternoon. Marco is really good about making sure that everyone is quiet, so that I can get my nap. =] We return to church for our Sunday evening service - I teach a ladies class and sometimes a children's class and I need that nap! =]
It is good to rest. I am learning that more and more. I never took naps or power snoozes like they suggested in college. I was always on the go. Nope, no time for "laying around" is what I always thought. Now I know better. We need it. Our bodies need to recharge. I have found that I can go without much sleep or any naps, I CAN still function, but it just ain't pretty! So, take a nap! I give you permission - if you are someone like me that feels guilty for sleeping in or taking some down time - guilt no more! I know I blogged about something similar (rest) when I was sick, but it's come up again and I realize that I just need more rest. You may need this reminder as well - so take it. ;]
Not only should we rest, but God expects us to rest. He created us to need rest...even the animals and the land need to rest....so why shouldn't we? I am going to bed...for rest. Good night!

Matthew 11:28 - 29 "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls."

Beauty in Rest...

Those of you that have been reading here and that know me, know I haven't been feeling very well lately. Ugh. I can't stand it. I have places to go, people to see... I know. There I go again! LOL I have been out of control. I have not slowed down at all, since about....hmmmm...October? =] I know, I know. It's nothing to brag about if it's going to drag you down. It has. I have been having some pretty wicked headaches and just not feeling well in general. Today, I have been ordered to go to bed early. My hubby has not only ordered me to go to bed early, but he's going to make sure that the children let me sleep. I am so thankful for him. He gave me super duper hard neck rub and then gave me half an hour to get to sleep. It's only 6:30 pm! That means I need to be in bed by 7!! I haven't gone to bed that early since....since 8th grade probably! LOL Okay, so I had to stop by and say hello and good-bye to my blogging friends. I'll see you on the otherside! Dream land, that is. =]
